Dreams Dreams: A Handwritten Display Font That Feels Like Your Brand’s Smile

It was 9 a.m. on a rainy Tuesday—my third attempt at printing new candle labels—and the font I’d been using for months suddenly looked… tired. Not wrong, exactly. Just flat. Like my lavender-vanilla scent had all the warmth, but my label had none of it. I stepped back, squinted at the tiny jar in my hand, and realized something small was holding back something big: my brand wasn’t *feeling* like me anymore.

That’s when I found Dreams Dreams. Not as a “solution” or a trend—but as a quiet, joyful match. Designed by Sakti Avellin, this is a display font built from real handwriting: soft curves, gentle inconsistencies, and a playful mix of bold and light strokes that somehow feel both spontaneous and intentional. It doesn’t shout. It leans in. It says, “I made this with care”—which, honestly, is exactly what my little candle business is about.

Dreams Dreams isn’t meant for paragraphs or fine print. It’s a premium font for moments that need heart: your logo lockup, the “Hand-poured in Portland” line on a soy wax jar, the title on a seasonal Instagram story, or the “Thank You” stamped on a kraft thank-you card tucked into every order. Because it’s a handwritten font, it brings instant personality—without sacrificing polish. Think of it as your brand’s friendly voice, translated into letters.

I started small. First, I swapped it into my café-style menu board (yes—I run a tiny neighborhood café too). The chalkboard header went from generic to inviting overnight. Then came the packaging: the front of my bakery boxes now reads “Freshly Baked Daily” in Dreams Dreams, while the ingredient list stays clean and legible in a simple sans serif. That contrast? Instant visual hierarchy. Customers notice the warmth first—and then they read. That’s how good typography works: it guides attention, builds trust, and makes your message feel human.

Here’s where Dreams Dreams shines most:

Readability matters—especially on small spaces. I tested Dreams Dreams on a 1.5-inch candle label: at 14pt, it’s clear and charming. At 10pt? Too delicate. So I reserve it for titles, names, and short accents—not body text or tiny legal disclaimers. On mobile screens, it holds up best in headlines and hero sections—not captions or comment overlays. For printed packaging, I always preview in CMYK and test a physical proof. A great display font should look warm in person, not just on screen.

Pairing it is intuitive. I use it with Inter (a friendly, highly readable sans serif) for almost everything—menus, emails, product pages. Sometimes, for a special launch, I’ll layer it over a subtle serif like Playfair Display for contrast that feels elevated but never stiff. The key is balance: let Dreams Dreams carry the emotion, and lean on a clean companion font for clarity and structure. No need to overthink it—just ask: “Does this pairing feel like *us*?”

Before I committed, I checked the details—because real small businesses can’t afford licensing surprises. Dreams Dreams includes OTF and WOFF files, standard and discretionary ligatures, and stylistic alternates (like a swashy “Q” or a bouncy “g”). It supports Latin-based languages and comes with full commercial licensing—so yes, it’s safe for client work, digital templates, merch, and even resale products like printable planners or SVG cut files. No hidden restrictions. Just thoughtful design, ready to use.

What surprised me most wasn’t how much prettier things looked—it was how much *easier* branding became. Once Dreams Dreams was in my design system, decisions got faster. My Instagram stories felt cohesive. My packaging told the same story as my website. Even my handwritten notes to customers started echoing the same rhythm. Consistency isn’t about repetition—it’s about resonance. And this handwritten font helped me find mine.

If you’ve ever stared at a blank Canva template, refreshed your Shopify homepage three times, or hesitated before hitting “print” on a new label—you know that moment when your visuals don’t quite reflect your values. Dreams Dreams won’t fix your pricing strategy or your supply chain. But it *will* help your brand feel more like the person behind it: warm, intentional, and quietly confident. And sometimes, that’s the first impression that turns a scroll into a sale—and a customer into a regular.
